december and christmas preparation at work

when i came back from freiburg, although it was 8th december, in kirchhain was already smelling like christmas.
what impressed me was the big amount of cakes made every day and eaten with every occasion, of course including the big backen aktionen with the children; here are some photos

today, 22 december, the aktion continued also with making stars with the children, either cookies again or paper stars:

here are the other practicants ( killian, magdalena, lisa and jan erik ) after a long day of making stars:

i also remember i was already visiting the famous nice christmas market in marburg with milena and maybe we werent there long enough, but we werent sooo impressed, here are some photos:

i had some time to make my presents ready also:

and time to make some pie to welcome milena's boyfriend in our small flat:

i am a bit curious how this christmas will turn out in the end, i already miss my family a lot and promised next year i will try my best to stay home for holidays.

freiburg

after my seminar in weimar i visited my boyfriend who does his practice part of final thesis close to freiburg. it was perfect that during the weekend i was in freiburg was the weekend of saint nikolaus and in the middle of the town we had a big christmas market.
after the introductory days of mathias work on the field we also went to freiburg where i had the chance to meet liana ( from the seminar in predeal, evs close to freiburg, see my blog post from september ), here are the few photos i managed to take:

evs- weimar

indeed a long time missing, the last weeks i was almost all the time away from my little home in kirchhain.

first i will talk about the seminar in weimar. ten days with 24 people from all europe was more than a way to find out more about evs, but as i felt, an interesting life experience.

i felt like in an experiment where some very different people are taken, put all together in a big house and get to know each other. and of course i had a lot of time to remind my old knowledge of french, spanish and italian.
first experience together in weimar was the turkish raki night, we were all gathering in the harry potter room ( amazing alike appearance ), listened to some music that reminded me a lot of the romanian manele, eaten and drank

in the next nights we had a lot of salsa

i have to admit that although i don't like parties so much, the salsa club in weimar was impressing and the atmosphere was incredible. i had there also the chance to take photos with the girls that made some nice conversations with me: linnea from finland, sylwia from poland and maite from france in the photo

my roommate was a very french girl called aurelie ( sometimes i called her also amelie, maybe it was because of the background music we often had during the day from the amelie movie ), in the photo also with the crazy macedonian ardian

and i also have a photo made just for ardian:

it contains a big verboten sign and also the morning breakfast hours.

we also had a full day with international cooking together, one can tell from the photos we had a lot of fun

here is some finish desert
and some nordic milk with rice together with a price for the person who found the nut in it

a very delicious turkish main dish

some french crepes, yammy
all the food was very very delicious and i ate till my stomach was hurting.

in the weekend we talked a lot about german history and we visited the concentration camp in buchenwald, but i prefer not to show any photos from here.

what was also nice and we had it all to ourselves for 10 days was weimar itself, very nice and cultural town
if u go to the museum from goethe's house just make sure u take a private guide or some headset with some information, otherwise you'll be walking around doing nothing like we did.

the castle that linnea, iwona and i visited together.

here is the photo where we played the little men from the traffic lights

about the entire masks action i will talk in a future post.

i very often talk on this blog about the good things in my evs and ignore partially the problems, maybe because i still wait for some changes. the seminar was a good opportunity for me to see other evs and make the differences between projects but also meet someone from the german national agency with whom i could talk more about my working hours, what i do, and how i feel. it wasn't easy for me and i have to admit i am a bit envious on the evs in bigger towns, who meet a lot of people and go out, who don't work so much and have a bit more easy, relaxing job.
my advice for the future evs is to establish some certain working hours from the beginning and volunteer only for the things they really feel like they are able and want to do.
